Assessment
We offer comprehensive psychological assessments for children ages 3-17 in our Walnut Creek office. We specialize in the little ones because we want to help you begin your path to understanding your child. We know the importance of early identification of needs and interventions to create new neural pathways and target skill development while the brain is most plastic and responsive to change.
We help figure out what is happening from a brain-based and developmental perspective and let you know in a way that is both relatable and easy to understand. We want you to be equipped to nurture and support your child so that you can be their ally and their advocate. We help you to understand your child’s strengths and struggles so that you are able to create an environment to best support their growth and development. We let you know which areas need to be strengthened and which areas need to be accommodated.
Assessments typically occur over the course of several weeks. The steps include gathering a thorough developmental history, conducting observations, administering standardized assessments, consulting with your child’s team (e.g. teachers, professionals, etc.), writing a report and giving feedback. Our goal is to be thorough and to provide information that is accurate, accessible, and useful. Because we are practitioners as well as assessors, our understanding is nuanced and we tailor our assessments, results, and recommendations to practical information for real life and real world parenting.
